At BeFriend, we’re committed to creating a space where users can build genuine connections in a safe and respectful environment. From the moment someone joins our platform, a range of built-in safety features work together to protect their experience.
Our safety framework combines advanced AI moderation, age-based user segmentation, profile verification, and customizable privacy controls to ensure users feel confident and in control. We also offer clear reporting tools, human moderation support, and educational resources to promote responsible behavior and fast responses to violations.

Customizable Safety Controls
BeFriend provides a range of customizable safety tools to give users greater control over their experience. These features are designed to enhance privacy, minimize unwanted interactions, and support a secure and respectful environment for everyone on the platform.
Block List
Users can block anyone they do not wish to interact with. Once a user is blocked, they will no longer be able to view or contact the person who blocked them on BeFriend. This function ensures that individuals can maintain their personal boundaries and feel safe while using the app.
Filter Settings
Users can customize who they see based on gender, age, and country. To reduce the risk of harassment and create a more tailored experience, BeFriend applies these filters bidirectionally—only users who meet each other’s preferences will be able to view one another. This ensures a more balanced and mutually respectful connection environment.
Blurred Photo Preview in Chats
To protect users from unsolicited or inappropriate content, BeFriend blurs image messages by default when they are sent for the first time in a chat. The recipient must explicitly agree to view the image before it becomes visible. This feature empowers users to choose what they want to see and helps maintain a respectful and comfortable chat environment.
Incognito Mode (Premium Feature)
For those who prefer an added layer of privacy, Incognito Mode is available as a premium option. When enabled, a user’s profile becomes invisible to others unless they have actively expressed interest by liking them first. This gives users full control over who can discover and engage with their profile.
Hide Active Status (Premium Feature)
Another premium feature allows users to hide their online status. Once activated, other users will no longer be able to see whether they are currently active on the platform, offering greater flexibility and discretion for those who value their privacy.
Profile Verification
BeFriend offers an optional Profile Verification feature to help foster trust and authenticity across the community. Verified users receive a special badge on their profile, letting others know they are real people—making it easier to build genuine friendships and connections.
To get verified, users are guided through a simple photo verification process that involves matching a specific gesture shown on screen. The photo is reviewed by our moderation team to confirm that it matches the user’s profile and meets all clarity requirements. This verification photo is not shown publicly and remains hidden from profile visitors.
BeFriend only uses verification photos for the purpose of confirming identity. The image is stored securely to make future re-verification easier, and users may request deletion of their verification data at any time by contacting our support team at support@befriend.cc.
By encouraging profile verification, we aim to create a safer, more transparent environment where users can feel more confident when meeting new people online.
Community Guidelines
At BeFriend, we are dedicated to maintaining a safe, authentic, and inclusive space where users from around the world can connect and build meaningful friendships. Ensuring user safety is our highest priority, and we are committed to fostering a respectful and positive community.
To support this, only respectful and appropriate communication is allowed on our platform. Any behavior that violates this standard—including but not limited to nudity or sexual content, spamming, impersonation, illegal activities, threats, violence, or harassment—is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent suspension of the offending account.
BeFriend has a zero-tolerance policy toward the selling, requesting, or sharing of explicit content that violates our Community Guidelines. We take user reports seriously and thoroughly review all suspicious activity. If an account is suspended, it may have been flagged due to suspicious behavior or multiple reports from other members.
By using BeFriend, all users agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a community built on mutual respect, personal safety, and genuine connection. We believe that a healthy digital space starts with shared responsibility—and every user plays a part in making BeFriend a safe place to meet new people.
Report System
At BeFriend, we are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful community. We encourage users to report any behavior or content that violates our Community Guidelines directly through the app. Reporting helps our Safety Team investigate and take appropriate action promptly.
How to Report:
While swiping: Tap the three dots icon on the top right of the user’s profile > Report / Block
In Requests: Tap the three dots icon on the top right of the request message > Report / Block
In Matches: Tap the three dots icon on the top right of the user’s photo > Unmatch / Report / Block
In HMU pages: Tap the three dots icon on the top right of the HMU post > Report / Block
Each report is reviewed individually by our Safety Team. For most cases, we aim to respond within one hour of receiving the report.
To support the review process, users may also leave a comment or attach relevant screenshots to provide additional context when submitting a report. This helps our moderators assess the situation more thoroughly and make informed decisions.
If you are a parent, guardian, or educator with a concern about someone’s safety on BeFriend, please contact us directly via our Help Center or email us at support@befriend.cc. We aim to respond to external safety reports within 24 hours.
By reporting concerns, users play an important role in helping BeFriend remain a safe, friendly, and respectful space for everyone.
Content Moderation
At BeFriend, we take proactive steps to ensure that all content shared on our platform is respectful, appropriate, and aligned with our Community Guidelines. Our moderation system combines advanced AI technology with a dedicated team of human moderators to review content quickly and accurately.
We monitor the following types of content:
Profile photos and bios
HMU posts
Reported content, including chat messages
Our system automatically flags content that may violate our policies, and our moderation team then reviews it manually for further action when needed.
Photo Moderation
To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all users, every photo uploaded to BeFriend is carefully reviewed. If a photo is rejected, it means it has violated either our Photo Guidelines or Community Guidelines.
The main profile photo is especially important—it must clearly show the user’s full face. If it doesn’t meet this standard, the profile will not be visible to others and access to certain features (like HMU) will be restricted until a compliant photo is uploaded.
Our photo guidelines prohibit:
Blurry or low-quality images
Group photos or images of other people
Impersonation, including celebrities
Social media handles or contact info
Nudity, sexually suggestive or inappropriate content
Violent, illegal, or graphic imagery
Irrelevant or misleading visuals
Text Moderation and Risk Detection
We also apply moderation to all profile bios, user posts, and reported messages. When text content includes risky phrases (such as sexually harassing language or threats and abusive remarks), our system may issue warnings or escalate to our moderation team for review.
Depending on the severity of a violation, we may:
Send in-app alerts prompting users to revise inappropriate content
Restrict features temporarily (e.g., hiding profiles or disabling posting)
Apply temporary or permanent bans in cases of repeated or serious violations
Our goal is to create a respectful and trusted space where real connections can happen safely. Through a combination of intelligent tools and a vigilant moderation team, BeFriend actively works to prevent inappropriate content, protect vulnerable users, and maintain a positive environment for all.
